dusk at the colosseum

a project from this week — handcut paper collage + digital flyer design for mother goose’s bedtime stories‘ upcoming benefit for SWOP minneapolis: dusk at the colosseum.

each month, the vastly talented xochi de la luna + friends organize mother goose’s bedtime stories and the spinoff event vector 9 – variety shows that seek to provide a platform of empowerment for POC, queer, trans and womxn by providing a fantastical atmosphere for radical vulnerability. the shows are really incredible!

this edition, dusk at the colosseum, is a benefit show raising funds for the sex workers’ organizing project (SWOP) of minneapolis. SWOP is a small, volunteer-run organization focused on harm reduction, outreach and community-building in minneapolis.  an emergency fund has been established by SWOP mpls to help meet the needs of sex workers in the wake of SESTA and FOSTA being signed into law – two bills which claim to combat sex trafficking, but in actuality, are causing incredible harm. to learn more, visit stopsesta.org and read this piece on motherboard on the effects of these bills.

to contribute to the fundraiser, i will have ten 5×7 prints of this collage [as pictured at the beginning of this post, but without the watermark] available at the event on june 10th. proceeds will be donated to your choice of organization — SWOP, mother goose’s bedtime stories, or it can be divided between the two. if i run out, i’ll also accept orders, and you can pick up your print at the july 20th edition of mother goose.

hope to see you there!
